Lyrics

ELIAN: "He Byron was called in the Council " said the messenger. "Byron! " I did say "why!?". "For his faith is not thy faith" said he "for a love between two of men is not right for thy life to continue in purity for giving thee a second chance" and he left me alone. WISMER (Lord Chancellor): "Byron thou art called thy faith condemned thy acts miscalled for love 'twixt men the law doth scorn thy fate by Council's hand is sworn." BYRON: "What mercy asks ye Council dread? Doth not my name stand noble dead? Why cast me out why bid me fall when love alone hath been my all?" WISMER: "Thy love though claimed defies our creed 'tis error deep thy heart must bleed. The Council’s voice is firm and dread for justice here thy life is fled." BYRON: "Then condemn me swift and just for I shall meet the flame and dust. But know this name ye brand with scorn was mine ere life ere breath was born. ELIAN: "O Council stern I stand aghast to hear my friend’s doom sealed so fast. Though mercy here be oft denied in hope I plead let love abide." WISMER: "Elian thy plea is vain and weak no pardon here thy tongue shall seek. The sentence passed for Byron stands yet thou not death by law commands.
